Winemaking:
Our Unoaked Gamay Noir is made from 100% stainless steel fermented and aged wine. These Gamay Noir grapes were picked for flavour and balance. The grapes are fermented on their skins for alcoholic fermentation in small 1 tonne vessels. After alcoholic fermentation is complete, we press the grapes off of their skins and taste at the press before pumping into a stainless steel tanks where we allow the natural occurrence of Malolactic fermentation to take place before a very short aging. Finally the wine is racked out of tank for and filtering before bottling.
Appearance:
Dark fuchsia with a pink hue.
Aroma:
Black cherry, prune, leather and spice. Jammy notes of cranberries, raspberries and blackberries also jump out of the glass.
Palate:
A light bodied and well balanced red showcasing jammy red and black fruits; field berries, cherries, currants and cranberries. The mid-palate has soft tannin, light spice and light structure to compliment this fruit focused and refreshing red. The secondary, malolactic fermentation, rounds the wine and adds complexity. This is a very balanced and easy drinking young red that is great slightly chilled, on its own or with light snacks.
