Ever heard of horsetail tea? No? Well, it’s something that we brew right at the vineyard! Horsetail is a weed that grows naturally on our property that we can harvest on site. It has natural holistic and biodynamic properties, including being a successful anti-fungal. That comes in very handy at the vineyard – we pick the horsetail, we dry it and then we brew a tea – it takes about an hour to brew. We then let it cool and settle, and we strain it before it goes into our sprayer. We spray it on the vines in the spring to keep the spread of downey and powdery mildew down. Horsetail tea is just one of the natural, organic methods we use to manage the vineyard at Adamo Estate Winery.
