Winemaking:
Our Estate Gamay Rosé is made from 100% Gamay Noir. The Gamay Noir grapes were hand harvested in early morning cool temperatures and whole cluster
pressed in our gentle bladder press. The juice is pumped to a stainless steel tank for cold settling and clarification before racking to a
secondary stainless steel tank for alcoholic fermentation. With temperature control, the alcohol ferment is carried out at 14 degrees
Celsius to maintain freshness and fruitiness in the wine. When alcoholic fermentation is complete, we sulphured the wine to prevent
secondary, Malolactic fermentation. Our Gamay rosé is then racked, protein stabilized and filtered before bottling.
Appearance:
Bright strawberry with a clear hue.
Aroma:
Fresh and lifted of red fruits including strawberry, sour cherry and watermelon. A very fruit-driven wine with underlying
notes of juicy red delicious apples and ripe pomegranate. Subtle floral fragrances lift out of the glass with hints of cranberry and
pink grapefruit that round out this clean and focused wine.
Palate:
The same aromas of fruit on the nose carry through to the flavours on the palate with a focus of strawberry, watermelon and pink
grapefruit on the forefront. Secondary flavours will continue to evolve in this young, fruit driven wine. Although this Rosé is fresh and
fruity there are subtle and elegant floral notes along with a tight and focused mid-palate structure. A light-medium bodied wine with an
acid backbone that leaves you salivating for more on the long, fresh finish. A great wine to have with light snacks, appetizers and
hors-d’oeuvres.
