Winemaking:
The 2016 Estate Vidal, Frank’s Corner, was harvested for optimal flavour and balance of acidity. We hand harvested to protect the integrity of the fruit and whole cluster pressed in our gentle bladder press. Juice selection was made at the press pan to ensure there was not any over extraction of phenolic flavours from the grape skins. It was cold settled after pressing and then racked into stainless steel for a long, slow fermentation at cool temperatures, to enhance aromatics and to preserve fruitiness. The alcoholic fermentation was stopped when the fruit profile was ideal and a balanced expression was achieved. Our 2016 Vidal was then protein stabilized and filtered before bottling.
Appearance:
A very pale straw colour, almost clear with a clear hue.
Aromas:
Delicate aromas of fresh pear, peaches and orange blossom are on the forefront. A bouquet of honeydew melon, honey comb and perfume round out the intensely aromatic profile of this wine.
Palate:
Sweet, ripe fruits and fresh acidity are balanced on the palate. A combination of citrus fruits and tree fruits including: lemon, lime, fresh Mirabelle and Casselman plums, white peach and nectarine fill the mouth. Fresh acidity, melon and honeysuckle follow on the palate. Our Frank’s Corner Vidal incorporates a fruit-driven palate with a sweet and sour balance on the mid-palate followed by a medium-weight and medium-length on the finish. An easy drinking light-medium bodied wine that packs a punch of fruit flavours with a balanced sweetness.
